There are quite a few options for how you can prepare an antiseptic yourself. For any recipe, you will need a container with a convenient dispenser, perhaps a used bottle of a purchased sanitizer, or other bottles with a spray (for liquid antiseptics) or without a spray (for gel).
The classic prescription of an antiseptic must contain medical alcohol, so as on the recommendations of the World Health Organization at a high level only microorganisms in a concentration of 70-90% eliminate microorganisms. Both ethyl and isopropyl alcohol can be used. Moreover, it should be at least 70% of the total volume of the prepared antiseptic. To prepare such a reliable antiseptic, you will need to mix 250 ml of alcohol, 5 ml of glycerin, 15 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 5 ml of boiled water.
So it’s quite difficult to buy pure alcohol; instead, you can use aseptolin, tincture of calendula, salicylic acid, cologne or any alcohol solution with an alcohol content of at least 70%. For a recipe with tincture of calendula, we need 50 ml of tincture itself, 1 teaspoon of glycerin, 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide and 5 drops of essential oil to add flavor. Adding dyes to antiseptics is not recommended, as they can stain the skin of the hands or cause an allergic reaction.
For a gel antiseptic, you can mix 2 parts of medical alcohol with 1 part of aloe vera cosmetic gel.
Vodka-based products cannot be considered full-fledged antiseptics, since vodka contains only 40% alcohol. However, in the absence of tinctures with a higher alcohol content, it can also be used, although the effect will not be one hundred percent. For one of the recipes, you need to mix 5 tablespoons of vodka, one tablespoon of water and chlorhexidine and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Another option: 350 ml of vodka, 15 ml of hydrogen peroxide and 5 ml of glycerin or aloe gel.
How to apply the antiseptic we made? It is recommended to apply the required amount on the hands and rub on the inner and outer surfaces of the palms, not forgetting the fingers and nails. This must be done for at least 30 seconds. In addition to processing hands, an antiseptic is useful for disinfecting the surface of a smartphone, keyboard, door handles. Nevertheless, you should be wise to use alcohol antiseptics, because they dry the skin of your hands quite often with frequent use, so you should carry not only an antiseptic with you, but also a moisturizing hand cream.
