If not, do treatment yourself and use mustard plasters for this, warming compresses on the chest, warming up the sinuses. These procedures improve blood circulation, thereby removing the inflammatory process in the bronchi and nasopharynx.
For compress, use plain warm water. Dampen the tissue in it, squeeze it slightly and attach it to the upper third of the chest. Cover the fabric with oilcloth, cotton and bandage or wrap the diaper crosswise. When applying a compress, make sure that each layer is 1-1.5 cm larger than the previous one. Do for 3-5 days at night until morning. To warm the chest with mustard plasters, use only those that are isolated on paper. And since children are impatient for pain, apply them to the skin dry, then they will warm much longer without causing irritation.
Be sure to give your child a warm drink. To soften the cough and thin the sputum, give heated milk with mineral water or with honey and a small pinch of soda, and to remove sputum from the bronchi, expectorant teas, for example, from licorice root, currant leaf or raspberry.
To treat a cold in a child several times in day warm up the sinuses. Heat coarse salt in a pan, pour it in 2 bags and tie. So that they do not burn the skin, put on the sides of the nose, first terry cloths, and on them bags. Instead of salt, you can use a hot egg. Do not carry out this procedure with a purulent runny nose. In this case, use the following method.
To cure a purulent runny nose in a child, use pharmacy drops, and only after the discharge becomes clear - folk remedies, for example, carrot or carrot-beetroot juice, 3-5 drops each. However, pre-clean your nose with saline. Dilute 1 tsp. in 0.5 l of boiled warm water, put it into a syringe with a rubber tip and enter it alternately into each nostril. To prevent water from entering the airways or middle ear, place the child close to the bathtub and, holding his chin with one hand, slightly tilt the baby's head forward. He’s unlikely to like this procedure, so with strong resistance just pump out the mucus with a rubber spray.
If a child’s common cold is not accompanied by malaise or fever, do not forbid him to walk. Fresh air has a healing effect, and mobility during walks improves blood circulation, which further contributes to the treatment of a cold and cough in a child.
